Claudia Vickrey

Claudia Vickrey Associate

Claudia Vickrey is an attorney specializing in toxic torts and personal injury. She earned her Juris Doctor with a Certificate in Advocacy from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. During her time at Loyola, Claudia was a Torts Academic Tutor to Professor Carmen Gonzalez, Morris I. Liebman Professor of Law. Claudia strengthened her legal research and writing skills through externships in the Circuit Court of Cook County and the Northern District of Illinois, as well as active participation in her legal writing classes, eventually earning a CALI Award for excellent achievement in the study of Legal Writing III. In addition, Claudia was an oralist and brief writer on Loyola’s Family Law and Chicago Bar Association Moot Court teams. During her second year of law school, Claudia advanced to Fifth Place in Loyola’s Intraschool Moot Court Competition and went on that same week to become a Quarterfinalist in the National Moot Court Competition in Child Welfare & Adoption Law, involving a completely separate problem - a testament to Claudia’s ability to pivot between different cases and issues on a tight schedule. Between her externships in law school and after graduation, Claudia also worked as a law clerk at a plaintiff’s personal injury firm, where she applied her legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.

Before joining HME, Claudia was a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Ronald F. Bartkowicz of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Law Division. There, she worked closely with the Judge and oversaw the externship program, assisting in the opinion drafting process for pending motions in cases involving negligence, medical malpractice, breach of contract, and defamation. Claudia’s experience at her clerkship exposed her to the behind-the-scenes of the civil litigation process and strengthened her understanding of what it means to be an effective writer.

Claudia is a city girl at heart. She grew up in Chicago and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for undergrad. There, she double majored in International Studies-Global Security and French, and eventually studied abroad in Paris during her Junior year. After graduating, Claudia moved to a small town in France called Tarbes and taught English to French high schoolers. During her free time, Claudia enjoys going to the lake, Pilates, and listening to podcasts and audiobooks.
