Julie represents HME clients in a variety of legal matters, including civil rights violations, nursing home negligence, and other malpractice actions.
Julie’s legal career before joining HME included representation of individuals and corporations, as plaintiffs and defendants, in a wide range of legal areas, including civil rights and malpractice actions, as well as other types of professional liability, auto and trucking accidents, construction and workplace injuries, invasions of privacy, insurance disputes, and breach of contract claims. Julie is an experienced litigator, having tried a number of cases to verdict, successfully briefed and argued countless motions and appeals, and negotiated favorable resolutions for innumerable clients during her career. Julie has been admitted to practice law in a number of jurisdictions, throughout the state and across the country.
Julie was born and raised in Chicago. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois, with a minor in Spanish, and graduated with honors. After undergrad, Julie spent several years conducting laboratory research with the Department of Immunology at Rush University Medical Center. Julie then went on to complete her legal studies at Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she graduated with honors. During law school, Julie interned with a number of governmental agencies, including the US Army, US Attorney’s Office, Illinois Appellate Court, Cook County State’s Attorney, and City of Chicago.
Julie’s science background and training aids her in her development of cases. Similarly, the breadth of her legal experience enriches Julie’s ability to advocate for her clients. Julie strives to ensure clients feel informed and empowered through all steps of her representation.
Julie has been an active member of various legal associations, including her service as a judicial evaluation investigator for both the Illinois State Bar and Chicago Bar associations, and volunteer legal services with programs including Wills for Heroes, Driver’s License Expungement Expo, and the Girl Scouts’ mock trial project. Julie also serves as an arbitrator with the Cook County Mandatory Arbitration Program.
